If I Could
You're my life my love my world
My universe
My family.
My sun and moon and stars.
Isn't that how you write
The letter of love
and poetry?
I care deeply about you.
And I don't know if I can make that rhyme.
Our poetry will just demur
And sit out the dance this time
I cannot conjugate
make the words sing for you my love
I cannot
And Fortune and Fate
Conspired not I
How do I write lies?
That you are in my tears
And after they fall so cold
You're shining still in my eyes
As the denial I withhold.
Wish I wish I upon my stars
that you could be mine
That it could have been written us
days by stars aligned
could...it's a dead word
Already upon the utterance
A slip of the tongue split swiftly upon the sword of your indifference
Stars are just mute fireballs they glow upon us all
Wishing upon a shooting star
Cannot catch my fall.
I'm caught in my mind
In a soft web of endless interludes
My love is a lonesome unwanted
thought
A soft kiss of Ifs and woulds.
