My Little Boat

I wish life were a pretty dream

One which did not have to end

where I could make a wish come true

And need never make amends.

I wish I’d win the you I love

Or love the you I get

I wish I loved back, the one who does

Or I could customize some traits.

I wish wisdom or decency

Overrode need for contentment

I wish the bliss of contentment

Could make passion redundant.

Christians accept they must repent

Heirs to original sinful taint

Hindus believe in countless lives

To learn from all our pent up drives

And no religion can soothe such

Uneasy thoughts that hapless stream,

Are tears true guide to inner screams?

To heavens shores then, our boats to bring,

We must pay heed, cleaving to banks,

of hidden hopes and secret dreams.

Alone on discrete rivers and seas

Exchange amorous lovers kiss

If our lonely boats in confluence

Of our two lovely waters meet.

The waters parting again before

They meet forever...once more,

In oceans mystic deep, be it ever so

Brief

Yet beautiful this kiss beyond mortal

Keep.

Perhaps dreams are all we are,

Perhaps stars dream us and we,

Dream up stars

Perhaps dreams are we all,

In divine sleep.

Our boats afloat where Naiads

Weep.

In celestial ethereal waters deep.
